7 huge Casualty spoilers for next month

What's coming up in the ED?

Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty isn't on next weekend (January 28), as the show will now be taking another short break until February.

When the ED drama returns, Jacob's past will be revisited, while Dylan makes a new discovery and Ethan's exit story is revealed.

Here's a full collection of the seven biggest moments coming up:

1. Jacob gets a blast from the past

Jacob attends a domestic abuse survivors group before work, where he is happy to hear fellow survivor Bron has a date planned with someone new.

Jacob then heads to the ED where his first patient is dressed as wonder woman with her eyes glued shut, after she mistook the bottle for eye drops. He soon recognises her as May Broker, a former colleague from St James’.

2. Jacob contemplates new romance

After Jacob discharges May, he's thrown when she asks him out on a date.

Jacob hesitantly agrees, but is unsettled to find Bron outside following a disastrous date of his own.

3. Ethan is left devastated over Bodhi

It's a big day for Ethan as he prepares for his interview for the Jac Naylor award.

Ethan facetimes Bodhi outside the hospital, but is hurt to see his son's palpable bond with his grandfather Pen.

4. Jacob struggles to move on

Bron tells Jacob that he took his advice and was open about his past on his date, only to be rejected because of it.

Jacob later heads off to meet May and they share a kiss after a nice evening. However, when May suggests they go back to hers, Jacob becomes overwhelmed and dashes off – he's not ready yet.

5. Ethan gets a shock

Ethan is left with more to worry about as he treats a young child, Nathan, who has acid burns to his chest and arms.

When the time arrives for him to head to the interview, Ethan tells Stevie that he's going to be late, as he can't leave Nathan at the moment.

Ethan ends up doing his Jac Naylor presentation much later than planned and is forced to leave mid-questioning when he's alerted to the fact Bodhi, Pen and Ash are in the ED.

Ethan is shocked to find Bodhi's grandmother Ash in a bad way and is later left contemplating his future when Pen explains how much they are all struggling.

6. Dylan makes a new discovery

Dylan is intrigued when Paige alerts him to her patient Josh, whose injuries don’t match his description.

Dylan is later confused to learn Paige hasn't discharged Josh as instructed, until she explains that he has the same wound on his neck as the Wilco House patients.

Given that Josh has never been there – and lives with his grandmother – Dylan realises that the care home abuse he has been uncovering goes further than Willco House.

7. Ethan decides to leave

At the end of a difficult day, Ethan is unmoved to learn he won the Jac Naylor award. He tells Pen and Ash he's not taking it, as he's had a realisation about how much he needs to be there for Bodhi.

Ethan tells a shocked Dylan that he is turning down the award and handing in his notice, determined to make Bodhi a priority in the time he has left.

Ethan then makes a quiet exit from the ED, vowing to dedicate his future to his son.

Fans had already been aware that George Rainsford was bowing out of his role of Ethan after nine years. He filmed his final scenes last summer.

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
