Former Holby City boss Simon Harper has honoured the memory of late scriptwriter Nick Fisher, after his body was found in Dorchester yesterday (November 17).
Two years on from stepping away from both Holby and Casualty as executive producer, Harper highlighted Fisher's "panache" and love for the natural world in a statement.
"Yesterday came the terrible news of the loss of the wonderful human being and writer Nick Fisher and all the press coverage rightly mentions his Casualty and EastEnders credits," it began.
"But I want to mention, as it hasn't been, that his biggest contribution was to HOLBY CITY, where as one of our most gifted core writers, he wrote many of our most memorable episodes between 2008 and 2020 and never ever missed a story conference.
"He was also a lovely and caring friend. We will all miss you Nick."
He continued: "He always loved the twinkle, wit and panache of HOLBY as he put it, and was passionate about bringing his interests to his guest stories, like fishing and the rural environment.
"He especially loved to write for Arthur and Chantelle and Dom and Carole. No other writer I can think of would have sliced off Malick's hand with a lorry load of falling hay bales. That was Nick. Pure panache!"
Tributes to the scribe also arrived from close friend and celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
Meanwhile, BBC Studios' executive producer of drama Jon Sen shared a few words celebrating such a "generous soul".
He tweeted: "My thoughts are with Nick Fisher's family tonight. I will never forget romping around the Dorset countryside with him and my kids still talk about the fishing trip where I spilled my guts.
"A kind, supportive, generous soul who always made time for you."
Selected episodes of Holby City are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
