Former Holby City stars pay tribute to show ahead of final episode

"It's been an absolute institution."

Holby City has been celebrated by faces old and new ahead of its last-ever episode next week.

The medical drama is calling it a day after 23 years, with the BBC keen to "better reflect life across the whole of England" with its programming, hence the upcoming revival of Waterloo Road.

As you'd expect, this decision has been met by a whole spectrum of emotions from those connected to Holby, and a new cast compilation video on Twitter gave a load of them the opportunity to say goodbye.

First up, Derwood Thompson's Ben Hull said: "Absolutely loved it and so much love and thanks goes to the cast and the incredible crew and everybody involved in the show, and thanks to the fans at home.

"It was such a treat being part of a show that was so loved, thank you!"

Before blowing a kiss to the camera, Zosia Self star Camilla Arfwedson recalled of her time on the series: "Happy memories and laughs and friends and storylines and fans, and the amount of amazing people that were met along the way.

"It was amazing to be part of such an incredible institution at the BBC and your legacy."

Further along, Matteo Rossini's Christian Vit revealed he had "a great time on set", while Debbie Chazen (who played Fleur Fanshawe across 13 episodes) went on to add: "I'm so sad it's going but I feel very fortunate and honoured and privileged to have been part of it for a beautiful brief moment.

"It will be sadly missed by me and everybody who's come to know and love it so well, it's been an absolute institution, so farewell Holby, gone but not forgotten."

But those reactions were just the tip of the iceberg, as these Holby City Hospital dwellers also shared a few words: Duncan Pow (Linden Cullen), Eleanor Fanyinka (Morven Digby), Gillian Bevan (Gina Hope), Hari Dhillon (Michael Spence), Jeremy Edwards (Danny Shaughnessy), Jimmy Akingbola (Antoine Malick), Joe McFadden (Raffaello Di Lucca), John Michie (Guy Self), Marc Elliott (Isaac Mayfield) and Tina Hobley (Chrissie Williams) amongst many others.
