Waterloo Road star Hollie-Jay Bowes has revealed that she has received an ADHD diagnosis.
On the NHS waiting list since 2020, Bowes was initially urged to get herself tested by former Hollyoaks producer Henry R Swindell back when she was staying at his place during lockdown.
Writing on Instagram yesterday (January 25), Bowes announced: "I have some official news today.

"After three years of being on the waiting list and many unofficial diagnoses from various doctors, one being my autism psychiatrist, the NHS have finally diagnosed me with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
"I couldn't think of a better day to get this news. Tune in tonight at 8pm @waterlooroad. Alicia Forde (who plays Kelly-Jo Rafferty) has some absolute BITS for you to watch.
"Doing this storyline with her has meant I've had the honour of reliving my undiagnosed youth, on screen, through her."
Bowes continued: "I didn't get the support Kelly-Jo did though. When I tell you I've balled my eyes out during this whole process, I would not be lying. She's bloody amazing. The closure has felt real. #adhdawareness
"Shout out to @henrys_cat for telling me pursue it when I was living at his, watching the news, upside down on his sofa."

The star was referencing Forde's character Kelly-Jo Rafferty in her social media post.
Initially seen as a "disruptive" student, Kelly-Jo was later told she might have ADHD by teacher Amy Spratt and was referred to be diagnosed.
Waterloo Road airs on Tuesday nights on BBC One. The new series is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
