Zoe Ball was replaced on her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show today (January 30).

Vernon Kay stepped in for the veteran DJ, who had fallen ill and missed the first show of the week.

The former Strictly: It Takes Two host added she would be "back soon", including a red heart emoji.

For his part, Vernon confirmed he'd be temporarily replacing Zoe while she recovers. He also joked he's struggling with the 5am wake-ups.

"Couple of mornings on @BBCRadio2 coming up!!" he wrote on January 29.

In April 2022, Zoe had a double mishap when she had a flat tyre on her way to work and wasn't feeling well.

Replaced by travel reporter Richie Anderson, the DJ managed to come on the air 30 minutes later but had to pull out again as she was poorly.
