Indiana Jones 5's Phoebe Waller-Bridge is in talks to reboot Tomb Raider as a TV show.
The writer and actress is attached to turn the hit video game franchise into a streaming TV series for Prime Video, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news outlet says Phoebe is not expected to play the globe-trotting archaeologist Lara Croft in this TV version, but will executive produce the series alongside former Amazon executives Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt. Amazon has not directly commented on these latest reports.
It's also being reported that a new Tomb Raider movie is happening, with Amazon intending that it will form part of a connected universe alongside the TV series and a new game, which was previously announced last month.
Waller-Bridge is reported not to be involved in the film or the game, with her link to the TV series instead coming through her deal with Amazon.
The Fleabag star has become well known for taking top franchises and adapting them for the small screen, after developing the TV version of the Killing Eve novel series.
She had also been working on a TV adaptation of Mr and Mrs Smith with Donald Glover as a vehicle for both of them to star, though she dropped out due to creative differences. PEN15 star Maya Erskine has since taken over the lead female role in the show.
It was reported only today (Friday, January 27) that Waller-Bridge will also executive produce an Amazon series about someone working in Hell.
The BAFTA Television Award winner is next starring in Disney's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny opposite Harrison Ford as Indy's goddaughter Helena as the pair uncover a Nazi conspiracy during the Space Race.
As for Tomb Raider, the video game franchise was previously adapted as films starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, the latter of which had been expected to get a sequel following its 2018 release.
Unfortunately, it was reported this past July that production company MGM had lost the rights to make a sequel to the Vikander movie, likely setting up the opportunity for Amazon to move in for a TV reboot.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.
