In tonight’s (February 10) heartbreaking new episode of Emmerdale, a devastated Chas blamed herself for Paddy’s disappearance.

Paddy has been having a rough time on the soap as he struggled with loneliness after his marriage to Chas broke down following the revelation of her affair. Viewers most recently saw him give into a passionate night with his former lover Mandy.

Following Paddy's disappearance from the village, Chas had an argument with Mandy over who is to blame.

Later, when they called the police to file a missing person’s report, it was revealed that Caleb saw Paddy the day he disappeared and that he told Paddy he should consider leaving the village for a while in order to clear his head.

This understandably made Chas angry and she accused Caleb of being the reason Paddy has gone AWOL. However, Paddy’s father Bear was having none of it as he cornered Chas and doled out some harsh truths, telling her that she was to blame for his son’s disappearance because of her affair with the late Al Chapman.

He told Chas that she took Paddy's heart and completely crushed it, and it was his wish that Paddy never speak to Chas again.

Chas then once again ripped Caleb a new one as she yelled at him for the mess he'd created. She then ordered him to get out of her sight, before realisation set in and she started blaming herself for Paddy’s disappearance.

Fans know that Paddy won’t be gone for long though, as the show has confirmed that Paddy will be contemplating suicide in an upcoming story.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
