Death in Paradise spoilers follow.

Death in Paradise has confirmed there will be a huge change in the personal life of DI Neville Parker.

As Shantol Jackson's Naomi takes centre stage in this week's (January 27) episode to tackle a murder at a friend's wedding, Neville revealed to his co-workers that ex-girlfriend Sophie will be coming back to say with him.

Viewers had been noticing over the past couple of episodes that Neville's feelings for Sophie had led to him struggling on the island. Many fans were speculating if the character would even leave the island for her.

His behaviour hadn't gone unnoticed by his co-workers either who had been worried the inspector was lovesick.

While investigating the murder of father-of-the-bride Rex Hays, Neville received a text message that caused a notable change in his behaviour. He confessed to Marlon later that he had received a message from Sophie saying that she missed him and that he was unsure on how to reply.

Marlon questioned Neville on his feelings, telling him to be honest in his response.

After the gang returned to Saint Marie they headed over to Catherine's bar to relax, with Neville spending a suspicious amount of time on the phone. As he returned to the group he revealed he'd been speaking to Sophie and that, following their earlier confession, she would be coming back to the island.

Unable to hold back his excitement, Neville told the group: "She's flying out in a few days to see me... then I guess we see how we get on together."

"You're welcome," Marlon joked, recalling their earlier exchange.
