Netflix's upcoming Luther film has now received an official title alongside a handful of new images of Idris Elba in the role.
Confirming the news via its Twitter account, Netflix revealed the movie will be called Luther: The Fallen Sun and that it will be released in March next year.
Elba has also given fans an idea of what to expect in the upcoming film, revealing to Entertainment Weekly that it will follow on from the dramatic 2019 series finale – which saw John Luther being sent to prison.
"He's done so much to bend the law in order to catch the bad guys that he's ended up in jail," Elba said.
"So that's where we start the story. He's contemplating what he's going to do with his life."

He continued: "Luther is just so haunted – that's his whole thing. Even when he's a free man, he can't help but chase it, chase the ghosts that get into his head. And I think that's what drives him in this film."
Despite the film picking up straight after the series finale, director Jamie Payne added that watching the show isn't necessary to understand The Fallen Sun.
"The story in some ways continues – if you binge the series from season one to the film, the story is continuous," he said.
"But because the film has got such a larger platform, we thought it was important that if someone was watching the film for the first time that it had its own story. It was important to all of us that the audience could find a way into the series."

Elba has also confirmed that new fans don't need to worry about being fully up-to-date with the series in order to enjoy the movie.
"If you watch the last season, it picks up after that," he said (via The Jess Cagle Show). "But for new audiences that haven't seen it, I think the film is a whole story."
Luther: The Fallen Sun will stream on Netflix from March 2023, while all five seasons are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
