Idris Elba has teased Luther fans with an exciting update about the upcoming movie.
The film, that follows on from the BBC series of the same name, began filming back in November 2021.
Now, the Thor: Ragnarok star has revealed that the film, which sees him return as DCI John Luther, is finished and in post-production.
While promoting his new film, Beast, Elba told LADbible: "The Luther film, guess what, we have finished it and we have some finishing work to do on the movie, but it's nearly there. We're really proud of it."

There has been no confirmed release date for the film, nor have any details been announced about the plot.
However, Elba has teased that Luther is about to reach a whole new level, as it branches out of the episodic format.
"The world of Luther as a television show and film is similar, but the film has [huge] scale," he continued. "We're opening the doors and widening it, so anything's possible when you can do that."

The film is set to pick up where the fifth season ended in 2019, but Elba has promised that newcomers to the franchise will be able to immerse themselves in the self-contained story.
"If you watch the last season, it picks up after that," he said. "But for new audiences that haven't seen it, I think the film is a whole story.
"Even if you don't know Luther, who he is, or anything about him, the film attempts to be whole for a new audience."
Elba finished filming the movie in the spring and admitted he was excited about the new direction of the movie.
"I just finished filming about three weeks ago, it was a grim shoot. Oh my gosh," he said at the time.

"I'm reading the script and then, 'He does what? Wow, this is incredible!' And then I'm actually doing it. I find myself freezing in some dark cave or something, but no spoilers."
Speaking about the new format, Elba revealed that he always hoped Luther could become a movie and that the new formula satisfies the audience.
"We've made varied seasons, one season was six episodes, one was four – Luther's adaptable," he added to LADbible.
"I think if we can figure out the formula to keep an audience captivated for an hour and a half, on a movie, I think Luther has definitely got the attributes to make that happen."
