Fast X marks the beginning of the end for The Fast Saga and, after Han returned from the dead in Fast & Furious 9, all bets are off in terms of potential comebacks for the sure-to-be epic two-part finale.
We've already covered some of the most likely returns for Fast X (and whatever its sequel is called), so we thought we'd take a ride down memory lane to pick out the notable stars you've forgotten were even in the series.
Could any of these stars return for Fast X? It remains to be seen, although the first trailer this coming Friday (February 10) might reveal some of the answers. For now, 10 points if you remember all of these nine actors who appeared in the nine-movie series to date.
1. Ted Levine
Appeared in: The Fast and the Furious
Buffalo Bill himself, Ted Levine, appeared in The Fast and the Furious as Brian O'Conner's supervisor Sergeant Tanner, back when Brian was still a cop.
Tanner is still alive in the Fast world, as far as we know, but this would be a deep-cut return if he were to come back.
2. James Remar
Appeared in: 2 Fast 2 Furious
James Remar – of Gotham, Dexter and The Warriors fame, among others – appeared in the Dom-free 2 Fast 2 Furious. He was customs agent Markham who, despite his protests, worked with Brian and Roman Pearce to bring down drug lord Carter Verone.
Like with Tanner, Markham could technically return, although we'd be surprised to see him (and intrigued as to the reason created to bring him back).
Fun fact: In another world, Remar played Hicks in Aliens. He was, in fact, all set to film the role until a drugs bust saw him arrested and replaced by Michael Biehn.
3. Eva Mendes
Appeared in: 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast Five (aka Fast & Furious 5)
Eva Mendes was one of the earliest notable authority foes to Dom and his familia as she appeared in 2 Fast 2 Furious as customs agent Monica Fuentes.
She briefly reprised the role in the fifth movie's credit scene, but Mendes hasn't appeared in a movie since 2014's Lost River, so you can (probably) count out another surprise return.
4. Laz Alonso
Appeared in: Fast & Furious
Laz Alonso is now best known as Mother's Milk from The Boys, but Fast fans could remember him as the guy who almost killed Letty. Alonso played Arturo Braga's right-hand man Fénix Calderón in Fast & Furious, who supposedly killed Letty.
It turned out that Fénix only shot the gas tank of her car, which allowed her to survive and return in Fast & Furious 6. Fénix won't be so lucky as he was impaled by a car by Dom which we're pretty sure they can't retcon. Probably.
5. Rita Ora
Appeared in: Fast & Furious 6
While the Fast & Furious series now is unrecognisable from its earlier movies, there still has to be at least one traditional street race in each instalment.
For a little while, the series decided to feature a surprise cameo in the street race section. In Fast & Furious 6, it was Rita Ora whose character didn't even get a name beyond "Race Caller".
6. Iggy Azalea
Appeared in: Furious 7 (aka Fast & Furious 7)
Iggy Azalea didn't fare much better than Rita Ora, but her street race cameo came right at the start of the seventh movie, and her official character name was "Female Racer".
We're assuming that both Azalea and Ora would have been happier with the non-street race role that Cardi B got in F9 (aka Fast & Furious 9) as she A) got a character name (Leysa) and B) is coming back for Fast X.
7. Ronda Rousey
Appeared in: Furious 7 (aka Fast & Furious 7)
Professional wrestler Ronda Rousey followed up her movie debut in The Expendables 3 with a brief appearance in the seventh movie as Kara, the leader of a billionaire prince's all-female bodyguard team.
She went head-to-head with Letty in a crunching fight, but Letty is victorious and Kara is knocked out, allowing Letty to escape. Technically, she could come back with a grudge to settle, although that seems unlikely.
8. Djimon Hounsou
Appeared in: Furious 7 (aka Fast & Furious 7)
Alongside his Marvel and DC roles, Djimon Hounsou added another franchise to his CV with a role in the seventh movie as terrorist Mose Jakande.
Mose initially works with Deckard Shaw (when he was still evil) to capture Ramsey and the God's Eye device. However, his determination to kill Dom only ends with his death and we'd be amazed if he survived the massive helicopter explosion.
9. Kristofer Hivju
Appeared in: The Fate of the Furious (aka Fast & Furious 8)
Game of Thrones fan favourite Kristofer Hivju turned evil for his role as Cipher's second-in-command Connor Rhodes in the eighth movie.
Connor kills Dom's former partner (and mother of their son) Elena, but he pays for it later as when Dom fights back against Cipher, he starts it by killing Connor for what he did to Elena. He's definitely a goner too.
Fast X will be released in cinemas on May 19.
