PlayStation 5 stock in the UK and beyond has been tricky to track down ever since Sony launched the PS5 digital and disc consoles back in November 2020.
However, in early 2023 at CES, Sony Interactive Entertainment president, and CEO, Jim Ryan, said: "Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward." Of course, whether that's in a higher-priced bundle remains to be seen.
There have also been rumours that the PS5 Pro and/or PS5 Slim being announced in late 2023, as the Pro and Slim were announced three years into the lifecycle of the PS4 and PS3 consoles respectively.
However, no official announcements have been made from Sony as of yet, and given the stock issues with PlayStation 5, it might not be fair to compare to the previous consoles. The Slim and Pro models generally meant a lower price point, extra storage, smaller console size, and better graphical performance.
Things became even trickier in August 2022 as the PS5 increased in price due to inflation. The PS5's RRP price increased by £30 in the UK, €50 in Europe, with Japan, China, Australia, Mexico, and Canada also having an increase, however, the US price will stay the same for now.

Following the price increase, it's not surprising there weren't any major PS5 console discounts during Black Friday and Cyber Monday or Christmas 2022.
However, there were Black Friday and festive deals on PS5 games, the Dual Sense controller, and PlayStation Plus membership across all tiers - the latter is still on sale in 2023.

Now we're a couple of years into the console's run, there's a host of huge PS5 games to enjoy from Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Elden Ring, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Gran Turismo 7, plus some major exclusives coming up, such as God of War: Ragnarok and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
We've seen consoles on sale from GAME, Amazon, Very, Currys, AO, Argos, ShopTo, and John Lewis, and these will likely be the main websites you'll be able to find new stock.
Although there are alternative sites like eBay, StockX, Smyths, The Game Collection, and even EE and BT that might offer some salvation, you will need to be a customer with the latter two, while some of the others are charging higher prices in bundles.
PS5 bundles normally include games, and sometimes extra controllers, headphones, or occasionally T-shirts and hats. Whether you'll want all of those extra items is another matter, but we have found that PS5 bundles are snapped up slower than sole PS5 consoles, however, this does mean paying a higher price to secure one.

AO is another solid retailer that occasionally stocks the PS5 consoles. The store also has a host of PS5 games, such as Demon's Souls, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and FIFA 22, you can take a look at all the PS5 games available here.
eBay PS5 stock UK
You could check out eBay to get your Sony console, though we'd advise you to head over there with caution, as the consoles are on sale for inflated prices, however, some sellers will be charged the usual fees which will be deducted from items and postage.
Prices will vary quite drastically so keep in mind that the RRP for the PS5 is now £479.99 for the disc model and £389.99 for the all-digital edition. You should definitely read the reviews and only stick to reputable sellers, but this has been the place to find the most consistent stock throughout 2021 and into 2022.

Similarly to EE, you can purchase a PS5 console and bundles by signing up to become a BT Broadband customer. At the time of writing, consoles are available in bundles with extra items such as games, controllers, and headsets. Somehow BT has had one of the steadiest supplies of PS5 consoles, besides Very and GAME.
However, this would mean adding a 24-month broadband subscription into the equation, which at the time of writing is £28.99 per month. New or existing customers can then get a code to access the purchase of the PS5, however, be warned that the volume of customers trying to buy can still be quite high.
EE PS5 stock UK
Maybe not the first place you'd think of for PS5 stock, but EE occasionally has some units available on a pay-monthly basis to existing customers, so long as you have a contract already.
It's only on a monthly-bill type deal, so you can't buy the console in full upfront, but you'll be spreading costs over a 12-month period. Depending on the tariff you go for, this means you could be paying between £506 and £605 in total over a year alongside your phone contract, so keep that in mind if you're on a budget.

GAME is a really safe bet for a huge selection of PS5 stock, which you'd hope for given that it's a dedicated gaming shop, right? Argos is a tricky one with PS5 stock, yes they're a great local retailer, and the idea of collecting your console from the catalog shopper on your local high street is hard to pass up. However, often they're listed as having PlayStation 5 consoles available, but the caveat is that it's only in certain areas, so you'll have to pop in your postcode on the page to check your chances. StockX PS5 stock UK
Not a website that we're particularly familiar with, but StockX does seem to have PS5 consoles in stock. They seem a bit similar to eBay or Amazon in that they have private sellers on the site, but for sought-after collectables such as trainers and trading cards.
They have a verification process, and fluctuating stock market price, so you're paying the competitive value at the time in theory. Overall, they have a 3.8 score on TrustPilot, and you can read more about how they work here. All this still means inflated prices, with consoles selling between £550-£900.
OnBuy PS5 stock UK
OnBuy is another private marketplace. This one launched in 2016 and has a score of 4.7 on TrustPilot. They promise to put buyers and sellers in touch without aiming to sell their own products themselves. As with eBay and StockX, the prices are inflated, with PS5 consoles ranging between £529.98 for a disc edition, and £689 for a digital edition bundle.
The Game Collection PS5 stock UK
The Game Collection, as you might have guessed, is a gaming retail website and has been shortlisted for awards as an independent video game. This one launched back in 2005 and currently has a 4.7 rating on TrustPilot.
