Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has fallen victim to an eBay scam in which he spent hundreds of pounds on what turned out to be a fake Louis Vuitton bag.

Danny's daughter Dani, who previously won Love Island alongside Jack Fincham, told the Fake Economy podcast (via The Daily Mail) about the embarrassing ordeal, which happened last year when the duo headed off to Italy to film a travelogue for E4.

"We were at the airport and my dad turned up saying, 'I've got this really lovely Louis Vuitton bag. It's only a few years old'," Dani said.

"Then it just snapped — all his clothes went everywhere. We had to go to a Louis Vuitton store and buy a real one."

Dani continued: "He got conned badly. It was really funny. He said, 'You live and you learn. Never buy something like that off eBay.'"

Dani explained that she almost got conned herself during the same trip when she almost paid £450 for a laundry service.

"I got my laundry done at the hotel and it came to 500 euros. I thought I'd been conned, but when I looked it was six euros per knicker and 20 for a T-shirt," Dani said.

The story comes after Danny left EastEnders in a dramatic Christmas Day special that saw his character Mick Carter get killed off when he was lost at sea.

Some fans have theorised that the ending, which didn't explicitly show Mick as dead, leaves the door open for a potential return sometime in the future. Danny, however, has said that he is adamant he's not coming back.

"I don’t want to come back," Danny told Mo Gilligan during an appearance on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan. "I don’t fancy it, Mo. I’ve done over 1,000 episodes."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
