The Walking Dead has finally come to an end after eleven seasons, yet appropriately enough it seems to be the show that never dies.
This zombie apocalypse has already spawned multiple webisodes and spinoffs, but the universe is ever expanding and there's still more to come!
Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith have a... turbulent history. We can't really blame Maggie for hating Negan's guts considering he killed her husband with a baseball bat and all. Even so, the pair (sort of) put their differences aside in the TWD finale and they're set to team up in a new spinoff titled The Walking Dead: Dead City.
So what's the latest news on the series and when do we get to see it? Here's everything you need to know.
The Walking Dead: Dead City potential release date - When is it out?
Dead City recently wrapped filming and has been slated for an April 2023 release date in the US on AMC, but neither a date nor a platform have been determined for the UK.
The flagship series is currently available to watch on Disney+ in UK, while The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Fear The Walking Dead are both available to stream on Prime Video.
Taking that into account, it's likely Dead City will follow the spinoff suit and air on Prime Video, but don't quote us on that.
We'll update as soon as we know something more definite.
The Walking Dead: Dead City cast - Who is in the new series?
The series was dubbed the 'Maggie and Negan spin-off' before earning the name Dead City (and before that Isle of The Dead), so it goes without saying that Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be reprising their roles as the feuding duo.
Joining them in the cast are:
• Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong
• Željko Ivanek as The Croat
• Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso
• Mahina Napoleon as Ginny
•Trey Santiago-Hudson as Jano
• Karine Ortiz as Amaia
Little is known about their roles, but keep us bookmarked because we'll be the first to tell you as soon as we know more.
The Walking Dead: Dead City plot - What's it about?
The six-episode series will take place a few years after the events of The Walking Dead finale and follow Maggie and Negan as they explore a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which has been long cut off from the rest of the mainland.
Not much else is known about the plot, but showrunner Scott M Gimple has teased that "it's a madhouse, and [Maggie and Negan] enter it and get swept up into the madhouse. There's a lot of conflict. There's a lot of action. There are zip lines, the walkers are insane."
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios, gave a little more insight when talking to Variety, saying: "It's going to take place on the island of Manhattan, which was left to the walkers 12 years ago when they overran Manhattan. The government decided to blow all the bridges and tunnels and just leave the island to the walkers. And it's now 12 years later.
"There's a million-walker herd that's sort of dominating the streets of Manhattan… Maggie and Negan have to journey onto the island, where there's a small civilian [faction] that lives in Manhattan above the 10th floor of all the buildings, and they zipline back and forth above the streets."
The Walking Dead: Dead City trailer - Is there any footage yet?
Yes! A teaser trailer just dropped and you can watch it above.
The 20-second clip sees Maggie and Negan navigating their new urban surroundings and gives fans a sneak peek at the some of the new cast members. As expected, it looks like there's plenty of action and flesh-eating to come.
