Fear the Walking Dead star Garret Dillahunt lands Hightown season 3 role

He'll play a South Boston gangster.

Fear the Walking Dead star Garret Dillahunt is going from zombieland to gangsterland.

That's because Deadline reports he'll appear in season 3 of Starz crime drama Hightown, as South Boston's "charismatic and charming" Shane Frawley.

"He owns a slew of legitimate businesses across Massachusetts, but his plans to take the Cape by storm are far from legit. As the new man on the scene, he will be a massive thorn in drug trafficker Osito's side," teased a description.

Dillahunt played John Dorie in Fear up to season six's eighth episode 'The Door', while movie buffs might recognise him as Ed Miller in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Martin in Army of the Dead or as the relentless Captain Monroe in this year's Ambulance.

Jeanine Serralles (Utopia), Kaya Rosenthal (The Time Traveler's Wife), Michael Drayer (Mr. Robot), Taja V Simpson (The Oval) and newcomer Ellie Barone have all secured recurring roles in the next Hightown too.

But switching back to The Walking Dead universe, did you know that Dillahunt has been linked to originally playing the role of Negan, eventually played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan?

"There's a lot of press out there about me auditioning for Negan, which never really happened. There was some discussion about the possibility of it, but there was no way I could do that with Hand of God going on, on Amazon. Not that it was offered to me," he previously revealed.

"I keep telling Jeffrey: 'It was always yours, man. I never could have got that part'."

Fear the Walking Dead season 7B airs on Sundays on AMC in the US. In the UK, episodes premiere simultaneously with the US broadcast on Mondays at 2am on AMC, exclusively to BT TV customers, with a repeat on Mondays at 9pm.
