The Apprentice season 17, episode 2 spoilers follow.
The Apprentice has said goodbye to two candidates in tonight's (January 12) episode at the end of a bao-making challenge.
After struggling with flavour pairings and designs, the teams lost one candidate each.
In a shocking move, bridal boutique owner Shannon Martin — who was reluctant to help with numbers during the bao task — decided to exit the process, explaining she didn't feel it was "the right environment" for her.
But it wouldn't be The Apprentice without at least one candidate being fired. After the men made less profit than the women's team, their sub-team leader, Irish accountant Kevin D'Arcy, was asked to leave.

Early on in the episode, Lord Sugar met with the groups at the Shard, where he filled them in on the delicious brief.
The teams were asked to bake and sell bespoke baos for two corporate clients. The women, led by project manager Megan Hornby, had to create baos for a golf course business. Meanwhile, the men, with Bradley Johnson in charge, had to channel their inner children to craft baos for a children's luggage company.
Additionally, the teams would try to boost profit by selling their delicacies at two different London markets: The guys would be at Spitalfields, and the ladies would take over Greenwich Market.

Things weren't really looking bright for Megan's team when the women failed to get the correct amount of basa, their core ingredient.
With 1kg of fish instead of 5, the group had to stretch the ingredients, making only 128 buns in the end. However, they managed to up their profit by adding more condiments and increasing their price accordingly.
The men didn't fare very well either. The fillings of their dinosaur-inspired baos weren't consistent, but their biggest mistake was halving their initial price: from £8 to £3.80.

As a result, the men brought home only £599.35, while the women made £754.60 in profit. Naturally, with The Apprentice being a game of numbers, one of the men had to pack their bags.
Lord Sugar had to choose between Kevin, who was in charge of pricing the buns, project manager Bradley, and banker Avi Sharma, at the helm of the kitchen team, when deciding who to fire. Ultimately, Kevin was sent home for not making enough dough.
The Apprentice airs on BBC One, with spin-off series You're Fired airing immediately afterwards on BBC Two.
