Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania spoilers follow.
Disney's latest look at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has revealed more about the MCU's newest major villain Kang the Conqueror.
Move over, Thanos, because Loki star Jonathan Majors's Kang is going to be an even bigger threat to every single reality in the MCU, since he can traverse the Quantum Realm and bend time to his will.
Marvel fans will no doubt remember Kang from the first season of Loki on Disney+, when the Trickster and Sylvie came across a world-weary version of the villain calling himself He Who Remains.
As the later trailer suggests, there are variants of Kang the Conqueror just like there are of Loki and many of the heroes we met in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
"You're out of your league, Ant-Man," he warns as he faces off with Scott.
The clip also highlights Scott Lang's destiny as a hero, flashing back to the events of Captain America: Civil War and the Infinity Saga to show Scott's highs and lows thus far.
When Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) gets trapped in the Quantum Realm following an experiment-gone-wrong from daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Kang offers Ant-Man and the Wasp a lifeline to return home.
However, Kang expects Ant-Man's assistance in return for a mission that could threaten the Avengers in any and all realities. This MCU adventure brings back Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, while Bill Murray is expected to play a mysterious villain from Janet's past in the Quantum Realm.
Earlier in the year, director Peyton Reed foreshadowed the huge impact his film will have on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the arrival of time-travelling villain Kang the Conqueror.
"Jeff Loveness, who wrote this movie, is writing [next Avengers film] The Kang Dynasty as well, so there’s been a lot of discussion about the impact that this appearance of Kang The Conqueror makes. There are big things in store," the filmmaker told Empire.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released on February 17, 2023.
