Vin Diesel reveals Fast X has added acting legend Rita Moreno

"I'm so thrilled, this is going to be such fun."

Fast X has only gone and signed up the legend that is Rita Moreno for a role.

One of the last remaining faces from Hollywood's Golden Age, the Puerto Rican starred in iconic films like the original West Side Story (as well as Steven Spielberg's remake), The King and I and Singin' in the Rain.

Vin Diesel, who's returning as the Fast & Furious franchise's driving force Dom Toretto, announced her involvement on Instagram today (May 24).

Sitting in a trailer alongside Moreno herself as well as Letty Ortiz's Michelle Rodriguez, the actor said to the camera: "It's been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno and the fact that she's here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile, I'm so blessed."

The 90-year-old chipped in with: "You know what... I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn't that nice? And I'm here, and the answer is 'Yes I'll do it', and yes not only do it, I'm tickled! I'm so thrilled, this is going to be such fun."

"Awww. I love you!" he replied, before Rodriguez yelled: "Rita Moreno in the house baby!"

The 10th Fast entry is absolutely stacked with talent; Captain Marvel lead Brie Larson and Jason Momoa (that's Aquaman, by the way) are the new kids on the block, while Charlize Theron is reprising her role as the villainous Cipher.

"You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology," Diesel previously teased of Larson's mystery character.

"Beyond her beauty, her intellect... her Oscar, haha, is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie."

Fast X cruises into cinemas on May 19, 2023.
