Wicked's long-awaited movie adaptation has found its Elphaba and Glinda.
The big screen version of the Broadway and West End musical will see Harriet's Cynthia Erivo and music superstar Ariana Grande take on the main roles.
A spin-off of The Wizard of Oz, the story follows the perspective of the two witches – Elphaba (Erivo), aka The Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda (Grande), the Good Witch.

The two stars shared the news on their respective Instagram pages, Erivo posting pictures of her emotional reaction to landing the part, as well as a note and screenshots of a video chat with her co-star.
"Pink goes good with Green," she wrote.
Similarly, Grande shared her reaction, as well as a note from Erivo and video chats with her fellow star and director Jon M Chu, writing: "Thank goodness".
Wicked was originally set to be directed by Stephen Daldry, with Chu taking over earlier this year. The movie is due to begin production next summer in the UK.
The stage musical first debuted in 2003 in San Francisco, before quickly transferring to Broadway, with Frozen's Idina Menzel and The West Wing's Kristin Chenoweth originating the roles of Elphaba and Glinda, respectively.
Wicked isn't the only big project Erivo has coming up, with the actress due to star alongside Idris Elba in Netflix's upcoming Luther movie. She'll also be appearing in Disney's live action Pinocchio remake as the Blue Fairy.
Back in 2020, Erivo also bagged acting and Original Song Oscar nominations for her work on Harriet.
Alongside her music, meanwhile, Grande is also due to act in Netflix's Don't Look Up, which also stars the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
