Disney has announced the release dates of sci-fi action-adventure Strange World on DVD, Blu-ray and Steelbook.

The film starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Gabrielle Union has a release date of February 6, 2023 and is available for pre-order now, with some formats even available at a reduced price during the pre-order period.

The standard DVD of Strange World has been marked down from £15.99 to £11.99, meaning fans can pre-order the movie for £4 less that the RRP.

Meanwhile the standard Blu-ray copy of the Disney movie is now only £16.99, marked down from £21.99.

The Strange World Steelbook that features a Blu-ray copy of the film is available to pre-order for £24.99.

The Strange World Zavvi Exclusive Steelbook features original artwork and packaging unique to this release.

Strange World, the animated feature film from Disney, stars Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade and Gabriel Union as Meridian Clade. They star alongside Dennis Quaid and Jaboukie Young-White.

The film follows a family of explorers as they travel to a new and strange place faced with many dangers, but the danger threatening to tear the Clade family apart comes from conflict between family members.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Gyllenhaal said he feels personally connected to his character Searcher.

“I think I was so moved by it because I think, in family, there's so much we want, right? There's so much we want,” Gyllenhaal said. “We want to be understood. We want to be heard. We want to understand, and there's so much that we won't be able to.

“We're just all searching through all the stuff to get to hopefully a connection of love, you know, and that's what this movie is about. I definitely saw similarities in my relationship with my parents and with the younger generation in my family.”
