Following Ash Ketchum's decades-in-the-making Champion win, Pokémon has confirmed a brand new series that will introduce new characters, as well as say goodbye to Ash.

Fans will know that Ash recently became Pokémon World Champion in TV series Pokémon Ultimate Journeys, and in a series of special episodes set to air in 2023, fans will get to see the final chapter of Ash and Pikachu's story.

The episodes are set to feature appearances from fan favourite characters, including Misty and Brock, as well as show a glimpse at what the future holds for Ash.

The specials will also "act as an expression of gratitude from Pokémon to all the fans who have joined him and his partner Pokémon Pikachu along the way".

Fans will also be able to "look forward to what’s to come in the new animated series, which will represent everything they love about Pokémon animation, including action, adventure, friendship and Pokémon".

Tweeting following the launch of the trailer, English Ash voice actress Sarah Natochenny said it had "been an extraordinary privilege to have been the English voice of Ash Ketchum for what will be 17 years".

"No matter what lies beyond his final chapter, he’ll live forever in the hearts of many generations to come. Cheers to new beginnings!" she added.
