The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey has opened up about her experiences with being genderfluid.
The actor, who plays Ellie on the HBO show, revealed to The New York Times that they have always taken a flexible approach to gender, saying: "I guess my gender has always been very fluid.
"Someone would call me 'she' or 'her' and I wouldn't think about it. But I knew that if someone called me 'he' it was a bit exciting," they continued. "I’m very much just a person. Being gendered isn’t something that I particularly like. But in terms of pronouns, I really couldn't care less."

The actor, who rose to fame as Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones, stars alongside Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us, which sees Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey) travel across a post-apocalyptic US that has been ravaged by a deadly virus.
Based on the 2013 video game, creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann recently spoke about the process of adapting the source, with the former saying: "Ultimately, adaptation is all about choices. And we can talk until our faces turn blue about how we make those choices.

"There's a lot of maths to it. But for me, what it always came back to was, 'What do I love?' What, as a fan, would I be hurt if I didn't see it in the show,” he continued. “What do I think we would absolutely have to change to adapt to a medium that is passive, that isn't interactive, that doesn't require gameplay?"
Druckmann, who also wrote and directed the original game, revealed that the series would have new elements, adding: "We did deviate, but not to surprise the audience. That was never our goal. We knew that would happen organically as we just kind of adapt this from one medium to another, and the surprises will emerge in that way."
The Last of Us will premiere January 15 on HBO in US, and January 16 on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
