Emmerdale airs heartbreaking scenes as Arthur Thomas is outed

Elliot Windsor takes the cruel action.

Emmerdale has aired heartbreaking scenes as Arthur Thomas was outed by Elliot Windsor.

Arthur came out as gay to Nicola King in a tender moment earlier this week, but neither had any idea that Elliot was listening to their conversation from the other room.

Wednesday's (December 14) episode followed in the aftermath of Elliot's discovery as he immediately outed his friend to April, as an explanation for why he's been avoiding her recently.

Cathy and Heath Hope were also present to hear Elliot's cruel revelation, with Cathy telling Arthur: "If you are, it's super cool."

Still, Arthur was horrified at being outed and he ran away when April asked if it was true. Later, the kids reported to a furious Nicola that her stepson had wrongly shared Arthur's secret.

Nicola confronted Elliot and was horrified to find out he'd also let slip the secret to a few other children at school. Meanwhile, a tearful Arthur finally opened up to Laurel about what he's been going through.

"Please don't be mad at me because I'm… I'm… I'm gay," he confided in her.

Laurel assured Arthur he had no reason to worry and she was thrilled he'd opened up to Nicola about what he was going through.

"If you're going to tell anyone, Nicola's a brilliant person to tell," Laurel said. "Anyway, she's probably jealous. She'd give her right arm for one of hers to be gay!"

She then assured her son: "Of course, I'm not angry. I'm just so glad you told me… My beautiful, kind, sensitive boy, I love you so much."
