After the release of feel-good romp Spider-Man: Far From Home earlier this month, we're all keen for confirmation of the next instalment of the Spidey story.

Far From Home writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna have spoken to Collider and admitted that they're both keen to write the next chapter, but unfortunately no green light has come from Marvel bosses just yet.

"We know nothing. We'll go where they tell us to go, if they want us," Sommers said, with McKenna adding: "We would be delighted to do another one, but we haven't heard anything yet."

The duo – who have written three MCU movies thus far, their other two screenwriting credits being Spider-Man: Homecoming and Ant-Man and the Wasp – have also recently opened up about their early intentions for Mysterio, Jake Gyllenhaal's Far From Home character.

Apparently Mysterio was originally intended to be a Skrull, which would've added even more imposter and shapeshifting-related intrigue to the movie's plotline. Nick Fury and Maria Hill were revealed to have actually been disguised Skrulls Talos and Soren in the movie's post-credits scene.

"There were some early, early versions of this movie where Mysterio was a Skrull... There were a lot of Skrull versions of the story early on," Sommers told Collider.

"We sat down and talked about, how do we keep on fooling the audience, how do we keep on having a lot of fun reveals?

"How many distractions can we get away with before people want to murder us? [The Mysterio Skrull reveal] was an early idea about why he was doing everything he was doing."

Spider-Man: Far From Home is out now in cinemas. Spider-Man: Homecoming is out now on Digital Download, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
