Jessica Jones is so popular these days because of her Netflix series that she's getting a big Marvel Comics comeback too.

The comics company has announced a new ongoing series will reunite Jessica Jones's original creative team Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos and David W. Mack.

Ten years on from the groundbreaking Alias title, Jessica Jones is now a mother to the baby girl she had with on-off lover Luke Cage.

However, Jessica returns to the detective beat once again to unravel a series of startling mysteries plaguing her New York City community.

"We're going to open up a book where Jessica's world has blown up in her face," writer Bendis told IGN.

"She's at a place you'll least expect her. You're going to find all of her relationships have altered. And we're slowly going to find out why."

He also teased: "Luke and Jessica have tried to raise a baby in a very dangerous environment. We talked about this during [New] Avengers, you're raising a baby in Avengers Mansion and somebody's trying to knock that building over every four days… so your perspective changes, and as an investigator and a detective her perspective will change because she's a mother.

"I know some people are worried about that baby being dragged like a sack of potatoes that holds down the story or something, but I can think of many ways to tell the story celebrate this part of her life and at the same time complicates it to a degree that a lot of people can relate to. I think a lot of people can relate to trying to 'do it all.' Lord knows I can!"

Jessica Jones #1 is set to launch through Marvel Comics in the autumn.

The character first appeared in the pages of Alias in 2001, eventually becoming one of Marvel's most popular characters and an anchor of the New Avengers.

Meanwhile, the phenomenally-successful live-action Jessica Jones TV series - starring Krysten Ritter as the titular hero - has been picked up for a second season.

Jessica will also be branching out for Netflix's Defenders miniseries, in which she'll partner with Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) to battle a grave threat.
