Captain America wasn't a secret fascist all along really

The week in comics - DC spotlights its gay superhero couple.

Here's your weekly roundup of comics news, from a Midnighter and Apollo to the post-Civil War 2 Avengers:

(Warning: Contains spoilers for Captain America: Steve Rogers #2)

Captain America isn't a Hydra agent really

Well, not exactly. It turns out that Kobik - the sentient Cosmic Cube in the form of a little girl from Avengers Standoff! - didn't just restore Steve Rogers' youth. She also played around with his memories, making him think that he was recruited by Hydra when young.

Kobik, it was revealed in Nick Spencer and Jesus Saiz's Captain America: Steve Rogers #2, was secretly under the influence of Cap's nemesis, the Red Skull. We'll just sit back and wait for it all to be undone now...

DC's gay superhero power couple get a miniseries

DC Comics has announced in The New York Times that writer Steve Orlando will be reunited with Midnighter after his popular run on the gay Batman-a-like's ongoing series, which concluded before the 'Rebirth' initiative.

His sometime lover Apollo will also be along for the six-issue miniseries, which will be drawn by Fernando Blanco.

Midnighter and Apollo #1 will be released in October.
