Marvel has announced an exciting new project coming to our screens in 2023 — a documentary exploring the life and impact of Marvel creator Stan Lee.

Marvel Entertainment tweeted an official first look at the documentary, simply titled Stan Lee, which will be airing on Disney+ next year,

The caption read: "100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee. Stan Lee, an Original documentary, is streaming 2023 on @DisneyPlus."

The trailer showed a smattering of clips from Lee's many cameos in Marvel movies, something which became a staple of every big screen Marvel Comics adaptation after his first cameo in X-Men in 2000.

Lee made his final appearance in the MCU's Avengers: Endgame in a posthumous cameo following his death in November 2018. However, he could still make more cameo appearances despite his death.

Earlier this year, Marvel signed a deal with Stan Lee Universe that allows them "to license the name and likeness of Lee for use in future feature films and television productions, as well as Disney theme parks, various 'experiences' and merchandising."

This documentary is the first Lee appearance since the announcement of that deal, and we can expect to see plenty more of the Marvel Comics creator in the future.

Lee created many of the world's most famous superheroes, including Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, and left behind an astonishing legacy that has touched millions if not billions.

Disney referenced this legacy in a statement made by then Chairman CEO of The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger just after Lee's death.

"Stan Lee was as extraordinary as the characters he created. A superhero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain, and to connect.

"The scale of his imagination was only exceeded by the size of his heart."

Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to buy now on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and other digital retailers.
