Sex Education star Alistair Petrie has joined the voice cast of a new Doctor Who audio adventure.
The Rogue One actor follows in his co-star Ncuti Gatwa’s footsteps as he joins the science-fiction franchise as the enigmatic Count in a three-part episode of the Fifth Doctor Adventures titled The Edge of War.
Speaking about his part in the franchise, Petrie said: "The Count is a seemingly benign French aristocrat existing in a place where time may or may not be a tangible enemy.
"He’s existing in a bucolic environment and I think he’s trying to protect people. There’s a posh brilliance and gentleness to him until the story ramps up but ultimately and tragically, he’s misguided."

Petrie will appear alongside Peter Davison who voices the role of the Doctor, while Janet Fielding plays Tegan and Sarah Sutton is the voice of Nyssa.
Jonathan Barnes wrote the second adventure in the series that Petrie stars in, which sees Nyssa take a room in a village inn in France in 1936 that is run by Tegan, in the owner's absence.
While there are no details about Petrie’s role in the story, it seems he’ll be interrogated as part of the series, as the synopsis teases: "A detective called the Doctor has just got in from Paris. And he has quite a mystery to solve…"
David Richardson, the producer of the audio series, was thrilled to welcome the actor as a guest on the series.

"We were delighted to welcome Alistair Petrie back to Big Finish – he’s such a busy and brilliant actor but he always makes time for us if he can," he said. "Once again, Alistair delivers such a charismatic and nuanced performance."
Back in May, it was announced that Star Trek actress Alice Krige will be a guest star on the first adventure, Friendly Fire.
The cast also features stage actress Poppy Miller (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Matt Addis (Hounded, Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor Adventures), and Phillipe Bosher (Blake's 7: Restoration Part 2).
Both three-part tales called Conflicts of Interest will be released in April 2023.
