The Flash movie isn't just bringing about the return of Batman in his various iterations, it also looks set to welcome the return of some of Superman's greatest enemies.
What that may mean for Henry Cavill we can't be sure, but Warner Bros has now officially confirmed that Man of Steel stars Michael Shannon and Antje Traue are appearing in Andy Muschietti's The Flash.
As the studio looks ahead to its 2022 release schedule, Warner Bros has listed both Shannon and Traue among the cast, along with the already-confirmed Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, and Ezra Miller.

The update doesn't reveal exactly who the two Man of Steel stars will be playing, but we don't think it'd be risky to put your money on The Flash re-introducing General Zod and his sub-commander Faora-Ul.
Michael Shannon starred as General Zod in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, a Kryptonian general with the same superpowers as Superman, but without the heroic credentials. Antje Traue played Zod's loyal ally Faora-Ul, a commander of the Kryptonian military.
Back in October, The Flash released a look at how the movie will set up the DC multiverse, with Ezra Miller's Barry Allen coming face-to-face with Michael Keaton's Batman for the first time.
Opening up about the sometimes confusing timeline of The Flash, Keaton – who will also appear alongside Ben Affleck's Dark Knight – said that he initially felt "stupid" trying to understand the script.

"I had to read it more than three times to go, 'Wait, how does this work?'" he admitted. "They had to explain that to me several times. By the way, I'm not being arrogant, I hope, about this.
"I don't say it like, 'I'm too groovy.' I'm stupid. There's a lot of things I don't know about."
The Flash is currently due for release on November 4, 2022.
