Emmerdale's Michelle Hardwick gives birth to baby girl and shares sweet name

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has given birth to a baby girl, and has shared the sweet name of her newborn with the world.

The actress, who plays Vanessa Woodfield on the soap, shared a black and white photo of herself and her daughter after the birth as well as one of her newborn daughter snuggled up in a pram on Instagram with the caption: "Introducing Betty Brooks to the world."

"Betty made a cheeky early appearance on Tuesday 15th November weighing 5lb 10ozs. We all love you so much our beautiful Betty B,” she added.

The star and her wife, Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks, received well wishes from fans and colleagues alike, as her co-star Natalie Ann Jamieson, who plays Amy Wyatt on the show, said: "Beautiful Betty Brooks!!!"

Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn Fletcher, wrote: "Oh Congratulations to you both."

While Natalie Anderson, who played Alicia Metcalfe until 2015, commented: "Aaah soooo gorgeous! Such a beautiful name too! Congratulations you guys."

Michelle and Kate got married in September 2019 and they welcomed baby Teddy in October 2020. They announced they were expecting their second child back in July.

Revealing the gender of their second baby during an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women in August, Michelle said: “We didn't know with Teddy, we thought the whole way through that Teddy was a little girl.

"We never had the scan or anything. And then I had imagined us with two boys but it's a little girl."

During her appearance on Loose Women, Michelle also confirmed the children have the same biological dad.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on the ITV Hub.
