Tessa Thompson has been cast in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Ash alongside Inception's Joseph Gordon Levitt.
The Thor: Love and Thunder star will play the lead role in this space murder mystery from director and rapper Flying Lotus (real name, Steven Ellison).
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the movie kicks off with Thompson's character waking up on a distant planet and discovering her space station crew has been viciously murdered.

Unable to piece together what happened, Thompson's character has to decide whether she can trust the man (Gordon-Levitt) who has been tasked with rescuing her from the tragedy. Only, he realises she may not be as innocent as she says she is.
Ash is written by German-Brazilian writer Jonni Remmler, with District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp serving as executive producers. The film will be presented to buyers at next month's Toronto International Film Festival before start shooting in New Zealand next year.

As for Thompson, she's pretty busy these days as she recently reprised the role of Valkyrie in Taika Waititi's latest Thor outing.
Love and Thunder sees the Westworld star's character take on the new role of King of New Asgard, adjusting to her new responsibilities away from the battlefield. Valkyrie's experience allows her to strike a friendship with Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, also in the process of figuring her out her new powers as Mighty Thor.
In a chat with Digital Spy earlier this year, Thompson revealed her real-life friendship with Portman helped them improvise one of the scenes between their characters.
"It was really fun because there were so many different versions of it, because we made it so many different ways," she said.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in both US and UK cinemas and will become available to stream on Disney+ on September 8. The other three Thor movies are available to stream now on Disney+.
