Married at First Sight couple Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee announce they've split up

"We have realised that we are actually better as friends."

Married At First Sight couple Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee have announced that they've split up after making a joint decision.

Matt and Daniel shared a joint Instagram post of a black-and-white photo of themselves to announce the news.

In the caption, the pair wrote: "As you all know, we have been on an incredible adventure together the last two years and we have given ourselves every opportunity to make things work as a couple, but over the last few months we have realised that we are actually better as friends."

"Break ups are never easy, even when amicable, but we can’t thank you enough for your support and kindness following our journey together."

The post continued: "There’s nothing but love and good energy between us, and we feel very lucky to have found each other in our lives. Just sadly not as a couple! And although we are parting ways, we will always continue to support one another."

Earlier this year, Matt and Daniel shared plans for a real wedding after getting married on the reality TV show in 2021.

"I would love to do that," Matt said. "We were at one of Dan's friend's weddings recently and we got chatting with a wedding planner.

"It’s definitely something we’re thinking about. I would love it and I know Dan would as well. But we're in no rush. We're embracing what we have together right now."

In July, Daniel said that appearing on the reality show was the best decision he's ever made and revealed that he and Matt were running a business together.

"I went in with true intentions to find someone who I could spend the rest of my life with and lo and behold, it worked out just as I hoped, if not better," he said.

"The whole process was really one of complete awe and it was inspiring to be part of it. I made friends from the journey and obviously I met my now husband Matthew who also lives in Portstewart with me. He moved over from Leeds to live here on the Causeway Coast and we run Wildbay Retreats together."

Unfortunately for the couple, their marriage didn't work out in the end despite plans for another wedding initially being on the cards.
