Wednesday spoilers follow.

Netflix has released a Wednesday teaser in the midst of recent rumours that the hit show could leave Netflix and instead debut a second season on Prime Video.

On January 2, The Independent speculated that Wednesday could be leaving Netflix because Amazon and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) closed an $8.5 billion (£7.06 billion) merger in November 2022 — meaning that MGM-produced properties, like Wednesday, could be shuffled to Amazon as part of the deal.

However, a new teaser from Netflix seems to suggest otherwise.

Today (January 6), the streaming platform posted to Twitter a clip of a scene from Wednesday's finale episode, in which the spooky teen (played by Jenna Ortega) writes 'The End' on her typewriter before adding a question mark and flashing a knowing smile.

This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Not only does this appear to shut down the Prime Video rumours, but it also suggests that Wednesday season 2 is on the way.

This, of course, is unsurprising given the Tim Burton-directed series was a major hit for Netflix. It even beat out Stranger Things' record for the most viewing time in a single week, with more than 400 million hours.

If Wednesday season 2 does get the official green light, fans can expect to see Ortega back in the titular role, as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, and Emma Myers as Wednesday's werewolf best friend Enid.

One character who seems less likely to return is Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie), who met a tragic end at the hands of Laurel (Christina Ricci) in the Wednesday season 1 finale.

Despite this, Christie herself teased to Digital Spy that Weems could still make an appearance.

"We haven't seen her put in the ground, have we?" she said. "I feel like Larissa Weems would not really be prepared to entertain or be dominated by anything as commonplace as death."

Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix.
