And Just Like That writer Julie Rottenberg has weighed in on the absence of John Corbett's character Aidan Shaw.
Cropping up during 22 episodes of Sex in the City in total, the furniture designer went out with and subsequently got engaged to Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) before she got cold feet and called the whole thing off.
The duo then briefly reconnected in 2010's movie Sex and the City 2.

Kicking back with TVLine, Rottenberg revealed that a return for Aidan was "never in the works", despite Corbett previously claiming he would be in the show.
"That was one of these stories that came out, and HBO never confirmed it," she clarified. "I think their policy was they couldn't keep confirming or denying every random theory that was thrown out. But no, that was never in the plan.
"We love John, and we love Aidan. It just wasn't in the script," Rottenberg added.
So there you go, it was nothing personal.

In other news, creator Michael Patrick King appeared in the recent And Just Like That… The Documentary to explain the genesis of Kim Cattrall's no-show as Samantha Jones (she's moved to London).
"I realised, 'Oh, we can have them mirror a split that people already know but make it really Carrie and Samantha and heartfelt the way you lose friends'," he noted, before Charlotte York Goldenblatt's Kristin Davis chipped in with: "There's a storyline about Samantha that I think is great. I think it's very true, it seems very true to me that friends sometimes grow apart."
And Just Like That, the sequel to Sex and the City, airs on HBO Max in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
