And Just Like That’s Sarah Jessica Parker confirms major character return

Not Samantha, but a close second.

And Just Like That... lead Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed the return of another classic Sex and the City character.

It was recently reported that John Corbett would be reprising his role of Aidan Shaw, the furniture maker who served as a love interest for Carrie Bradshaw. Their relationship went well at first, with Carrie even giving up smoking for him, but she eventually confessed to sleeping with Mr Big, while their second attempt fell apart due to various issues.

Now, SJP has confirmed those reports.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of the long-awaited Hocus Pocus 2, she tried to be coy about the reports before eventually giving up the goat and outright stating it.

"Could be, could be," she said at first, before stating: "Well, you know, I can’t be like, cryptic about it anymore."

The reports stated that Aidan will be a recurring character involved in a multi-episode arc, but not much is known beyond that. The character was revealed to have welcomed his second and third children in Sex and the City 2.

The actress has been teasing the second season of the spin-off, which was confirmed back in March, on her social media, recently posting the front page of the script for season 2, episode 1.

While And Just Like That... has been successful enough to be given a second season, it hasn't been beyond criticism, with accusations of fatphobia, character betrayal and clichéd non-binary representation, to name just a few.

Hopefully, the writers have taken all the critiques of the uneven first season on board and crafted a second run that fits in more comfortably with the modern world.

And Just Like That..., the sequel to Sex and the City, airs on HBO Max in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
