On My Block said goodbye to Netflix fans after its fourth and final season – but that doesn't mean its creators are putting down their pens any time soon.
Turns out, the story is far from over, and it's getting spooky.
The show's co-creators Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft are now heading up Freeridge, alongside On My Block co-producer Jamie Uyeshiro and exec-producer Jamie Dooner.
"Co-creating and running On My Block was and will always be a highlight of my life," said co-creator Lauren Iungerich in a statement. "I am so proud to pass the baton to my incredible partners Eddie and Jeremy and the incomparable Jamie Uyeshiro who rocked it in the writers' room from day one. There are more stories to tell of our beloved Freeridge and I cannot wait to continue to work with this talented team."
So what, exactly, will Freeridge entail? Here's everything you need to know about the On My Block spin-off.
Freeridge release date: When will it air?
Freeridge is yet to even start filming yet, so a release date is not yet known.
However, we'll update you as soon as we know more! And there's already some interesting info out there about what's to come.
If we were to guess, we are likely to see something towards the end of 2022.
Freeridge cast: Who's in it?
The first four cast members have been announced, and there's a couple we've already seen before.
Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Shiv Pai both appeared in On My Block's season four finale to tease us about Freeridge. Keyla has previously appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Shiv previously appeared on Netflix's Marvel series Iron Fist.
Bryana Salaz, who first found fame on The Voice US season seven, and Ciara Riley Wilson (LA's Finest) will round out the leading friendship group.
There's been no mention of any OG characters featuring, but we wouldn't rule out the possibility of some guest appearances given that the story is set in the same fictional LA neighbourhood as On My Block.
Freeridge plot: What's it about?
By the sounds of it, Freeridge will take on quite a different vibe to its predecessor.
In fact, while On My Block was very much based in reality, Freeridge looks set to go full supernatural – though we doubt they'll leave their roots of hard-hitting subjects behind.
The series will be based around the brand new friendship group, who "kick off an unforgettable adventure" after... summoning a curse?
That's never a positive thing for any character, so we're excited to see where they go with it.
Prepare for a different side of the LA neighbourhood we've learned to love.
Freeridge trailer: When can I watch it?
Unfortunately, seeing as filming hasn't begun, it'll be a while before we get to see a trailer.
But we promise that you'll know as soon as we know!
In the meantime, at least we have four seasons of On My Block to binge-watch all over again.
