On My Block's final season is almost around the corner, but there's good news! Netflix has recently announced that a brand new spin-off series is on its way.
Ahead of the show's fourth and final season premiere, the streaming service confirmed that although fans will be saying goodbye to Monse, Ruby, Jamal, Cesar and Jasmine, there are more adventures to come.
"We won't be leaving this incredible universe just yet," Netflix tweeted over the weekend. "Thrilled to announce the stories will continue in Freeridge, an On My Block spin-off!"
Currently, On My Block follows five childhood friends as they go on adventures and navigate growing up and coming of age in the city of Los Angeles. The planned spin-off, which gets its title from the show's fictional neighbourhood, will introduce new characters.

On My Block co-creators Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft will return for the spin-off, along with co-producer Jamie Uyeshiro and co-executive producer Jamie Dooner. Uyeshiro, Gonzalez, and Haft will serve as showrunners.
In a statement, Lauren Iungerich said that she was "so proud to pass the baton" over to Eddie, Jeremy "and the incomparable Jamie Uyeshiro who rocked it in the writers room from day one" (via Variety).
"Co-creating and running On My Block was and will always be a highlight of my life," she said. "There are more stories to tell of our beloved Freeridge and I cannot wait to continue to work with this talented team."

Promising a whole new cast as the show's first chapter comes to an end, Netflix's head of comedy Tracey Pakosta teased: "We are excited to bring a brand new cast of characters and stories to life in this On My Block spin-off.
"There are so many more stories to tell in Freeridge".
On My Block season four airs on Netflix on October 4.
