Freeridge spoilers follow.
On My Block's cancellation was a tough one to bear, but Netflix softened the blow by announcing a spinoff named Freeridge set in that same world. And now, it's finally here, bringing us a whole new cast who we already love just as much as the original four.
If you binged Freeridge as quickly as we did, you'll probably be wondering already if the show's coming back for a second season. Netflix hasn't confirmed news on that either way just yet, but co-creator Jeremy Haft did give us hope when he told TVLine that there's plenty of story left to tell in the Freeridge universe.
"The world of Freeridge is very rich and vibrant, and there are tons of stories to tell," said Haft. "We've always had a tiny grain of hope – [co-creator] Lauren Iungerich, [executive producer] Jamie Dooner, Eddie [Gonzalez] and myself – always had a hope that we'd continue the stories of Freeridge."
Let's just hope that means Freeridge isn't a one-and-done deal.

Freeridge season 2 potential release date: When will it air on Netflix?
Assuming that no-one's placed a curse on the show, we'd expect Freeridge to return in the first half of 2024. But that depends largely on when or even if that renewal announcement happens.
Despite all the Netflix cancellations of late, a renewal does seem likely because a half-hour comedy show like this is much cheaper to make than the longer genre fare that tends to be axed first. Plus, the show is a spinoff from an earlier Netflix fave, so that bodes well for Freeridge's chances too.
Freeridge season 2 cast: Who's in it?
If Freeridge returns for a second season, you can expect pretty much all of the following cast members to reprise their roles again:

• Tenzing Norgay Trainor as Cameron
• Ciara Riley Wilson as Demi
• Peggy Blow as Mariluna
• Zaire Adams as Andre
• JeanPaul SanPedro as Javier

• Michael Solomon as Rusty
Crossover cast members from On My Block like Paula Garcés, Eric Gutierrez, Eme Ikwuakor and Raushanah Simmons could all return, too. And what about other faves from the original show? Who else could come back for a visit to Freeridge?
Speaking to Popsugar, Wilson revealed that she'd love Jamal (Brett Gray) to return and help the gang out in season two: "He's got a lot going on up here, he could do it."
"Aside from Jamal, I'm going to pick Jasmin (Jessica Marie Garcia)," Trainor added. Whether that happens depends mainly on Netflix, and of course, the stars themselves.
Freeridge season 2 plot: What will happen?
After they spent the whole season trying to shake off Marisol's curse, it turns out the gang were actually being haunted by Abuelita's long-lost sister, Mariluna.
Upon learning that news, Gloria helps Mariluna reconnect with her family during Thanksgiving dinner. To thank her, Mariluna offers to write the gang a check for $1 million. But if they can spend it all in three months "with nothing to show for it," they'd then win $10 million instead.
As you'd expect, the gang go for the $10 million option, but things don't work out the way they hope when Mariluna is suddenly shot outside the mansion.
The shooters, two members of the Santos gang, mistook Mariluna for Marisol, demanding the Roller World money that Marisol and Jamal found in On My Block before her death. And with that, the season ends with one last shot of Mariluna's legs hanging outside her car door.
Is Mariluna dead? And what does this mean for the gang? If their interview with Teen Vogue is to be believed, not even the main cast knows what's coming next.
"It's crazy though," said Wilson. "It's hard to tell if she dies or not, so I think [that's] all up in the air."
"We have many theories on our end," Salaz adds. "We're in the same exact position that you guys are in because we don't know what's happening, and we want to know just as badly as you guys!"
Freeridge season 2 trailer: When can I watch it?
New footage for Freeridge won't arrive until the Netflix powers-that-be give season two the go-ahead, and even then, we'll probably have to wait until 2024 for a glimpse of any teasers or trailers.
