Netflix shares first look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams

Netflix's Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday has just dropped its first official teaser, and it's as spooky as you'd expect.

The live-action series from Tim Burton unveiled a new look at Jenna Ortega in the title role as Wednesday Addams, accompanied by Thing (Victor Dorobantu).

In the clip, Wednesday steps into the spotlight to share the trademark double snap from The Addams Family.

Netflix has yet to confirm exactly when the series will be arriving on screen, but it promised the show is "coming soon".

Wednesday, which recently finished filming in Romania, will be directed by Tim Burton and will star Scream's Jenna Ortega in the titular role.

Christina Ricci, who famously played Wednesday in 1991's The Addams Family and 1993's Addams Family Values, is going back to her roots and will be a series regular.

Revealing just how exciting it's been to revisit the Addams Family, Christina said: "I just finished it two weeks ago, and it was great. It was great working with Tim, and Jenna is amazing. I think people are going to absolutely love her as Wednesday."

Alongside Jenna, Catherine Zeta-Jones will star as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

The spin-off has been described by Netflix as "a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy".

It will follow Wednesday as she "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorised the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago – all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore".
