Fate: Winx Saga includes a really random Sex Education crossover

Does this mean the two shows are actually connected?

Fate: The Winx Saga spoilers follow.

Netflix really has cornered the market when it comes to young adult fare. From Outer Banks and Heartbreak High to Shadow and Bone and Never Have I Ever, there's an endless amount of teen content to devour. But none of these shows have ever crossed over or connected with each other beyond the Netflix brand. That is, until now.

Enter Fate: The Winx Saga, one of Netflix's more popular yet less well received teen dramas.

Based on an Italian cartoon of the same name, Fate imagines a world where magical fairies all attend high school together in a mystical land. It's literally worlds removed from any other show on Netflix, yet a surprise Easter egg in the latest season hints that these two seemingly random worlds might be connected after all.

Towards the end of season two, there's a lot going on with all the sex and the betrayals and the scrapings, so you'd be forgiven for missing this seemingly small detail. And yes, we did say "scrapings".

But if you look closely at the fifth and sixth episodes, focusing on Aisha in particular, you might spot a familiar-looking jacket that connects this world to Sex Education, of all shows. And yep, we did mean to say that too.

The varsity jacket in question bears the same logo as one worn by Jackson Marchetti, the swim champion who dates various other students over at Moordale Secondary School. This "Dolphins" logo is particularly interesting when you consider that Aisha is a water fairy who regularly goes off swimming throughout both seasons. Jackson is also known for his love of water too, although we doubt that extends to secret magical powers.

So what does this all mean? Is Aisha actually on the same swim team as Jackson? And if so, does this suggest that the worlds of Sex Education and Fate: The Winx Saga are actually connected? Moordale did always feel a bit strange to us. Not quite British, but also not quite American...

Of course, the reality is that these shows aren't actually connected at all. That would just make no sense. Not only are different people involved in the production of each show, but narratively, there's nothing to suggest that either story could ever be linked. Unless, Aisha uses her magic powers to leave the fairy realm and visit Moordale, but that's a stretch.

Instead, it's far more likely that the Fate team simply chose to include this Easter egg for fun, and to inspire articles just like this. But even so, that hasn't stopped fans from running with this connection.

Many have suggested that actor Kedar Williams-Stirling should join Winx Saga in season three, with some even pointing out that he could play Nabu, Aisha's ex in the cartoon.

But for now, this is all mere conjecture. Although, saying that, there is a season two character named Professor Ben Harvey who happens to be played by another Sex Education actor, Daniel Betts. And the fairies in this world do visit a human realm quite like our own a lot. Plus, a bunch of the Netflix Christmas movies are connected too.

Hmmm. Maybe it's time we reconsider this connection as canon, after all.

Fate: The Winx Saga is available now on Netflix.
