Maybe don't try this on your daily commute.

What happens when a stranger on a busy morning train invites the whole carriage to a party?

This isn't the premise to a terrifying, socially awkward horror movie, but the start of feel-good holiday flick This is Christmas.

A Sky Original, the film breaks the first, 'unwritten rule' of any London commute – don't make eye contact, let alone interact with others – with its stubbornly optimistic lead Adam (Harry Potter and How To Get Away With Murder's Alfred Enoch).

Commuting into London from the picture-perfect village of Langton, Adam shares his journey with the same people day after day. As everyone mostly keeps to themselves, the protagonist is determined to get to know them better by inviting them to organise their own Christmas party.

Fellow commuter Emma (Skins' Kaya Scodelario) will help him win the skepticism of other passengers.

The ensemble cast also features Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Enchanted), Ben Miller (Death in Paradise, Bridgerton), Alexandra Roach (Killing Eve, Channel 4's Utopia) and Joanna Scanlan (After Love) to name but a few.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Christmas film without a huge helping of holiday romance. The trailer hints at Adam and Emma growing close in the run-up to their party, but expect some hurdles for the budding couple to clear before they can make it official.

This is Christmas isn't the only movie Sky has in store for this holiday season. Gentleman Jack's Suranne Jones will star in Christmas Carole, in which she plays unscrupulous, grumpy entrepreneur Carole Mackay. Her virtually non-existent festive spirit will spike thanks to overnight visits from the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

Rings a bell? This is but the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Though not the first with a pun in its name (Hallmark went there in 2012 with Carrie Fisher's It's Christmas, Carol!), it's guaranteed to make for a wholesome watch.

This is Christmas will be available to watch on Sky Cinema and NOW from 9 December.
