Death in Paradise's Ben Miller teases another return to the series

"I'll be in that wool suit before you can say Harry."

Death in Paradise star Ben Miller has teased another return to the series as the irritable but loveable DI Richard Poole.

Miller, who starred in series one and two of the show, was killed off at the start of season 3 when Kris Marshall took on the role of DI Humphrey Goodman as series lead.

The Bridgerton star reprised his role as Richard Poole for a brief cameo in season 10, appearing as a figment of Detective Sergeant Camille Bordey's (Sara Martins) imagination.

However, Miller hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to the beloved role once more, telling Radio Times that he would "of course" return to the show if the opportunity arose.

"Yeah, of course I would. It was wonderful to come back. I did come back as my character in season 10 earlier this year," he said.

According to Miller, if his character can return as a ghost then there is a possibility that he can return again and he assured viewers that he will don his wool suit if so.

"I came back as a ghost, so I guess anything is possible. Don't you worry, I'll be struggling into that wool suit. I'll be in that wool suit before you can say Harry," said Miller in reference to Harry the CGI lizard – a series regular.

In the same interview Miller opened up about playing Richard, saying that he missed the character.

"I really miss Richard Poole. He's a wonderful, wonderful character. And inevitably there's a sort of sadness in me that I'm not going to get to play him again. You miss them."

He also touched on the brand new spin-off series Beyond Paradise where Kris Marshall will return as Humphrey Goodman for some British countryside mysteries.

"I just think it's a brilliant idea," Miller said.

Death in Paradise airs on BBC One, and spin-off Beyond Paradise is in production.
