Sex Education's Gillian Anderson shares season 4 filming sneak peek

"Jean's baaaaaack!"

Sex Education season 4 has been shooting for over a month now, and Dr Jean Milburn herself Gillian Anderson is ratcheting up the anticipation.

Over on Instagram, the X Files icon uploaded a mirror selfie from the makeup trailer yesterday (September 13), captioning it: "Jean's baaaaaack! @sexeducation."

Anderson's post was met with some serious love from Sex Education fans, as two commented: "THE KING OF EVERYTHING IS OFFICIALLY BACK!!" and "FINALLY something to look forward to".

"AAAAGHH i love that! I can't wait", "Omg omg omg omg" and "Please, Gillian, hurry up with shooting, WE NEED JEAN BACK ASAP" read another mix of messages.

The fourth season of Netflix's high-school comedy will find Jean raising a new baby, after giving birth to Otis's younger sister Joy in heart-stopping fashion last year.

But who's the father?

One possibility is Jean's ex-husband Remi, played by James Purefoy (Altered Carbon).

Talking to Digital Spy just last month, the actor spoke about whether he'll return to the fold after skipping season 3, saying: "I think it's a really brilliant piece of work. If they wanted me back, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

"One of the things that [creator] Laurie [Nunn] does among lots of brilliant things that she does is the way she [deals with] characters who seem to be incredibly odious in one way or difficult.

"Remi, he's such a dick in so many ways, and yet he kind of pulls it back at the end of his current story.

"You really get a sense of how lonely and miserable that man is underneath all the bravado."

Sex Education seasons 1-3 are available to watch on Netflix.
