The Crown's Claire Foy has responded to her co-star Matt Smith's character in the Game of Thrones prequel spin-off House of the Dragon, and while she's very impressed with the show as a whole, she's a bit less keen on his new character.

Smith starred as the Prince Philip to Foy's Queen Elizabeth II, before going onto play another prince, Daemon Targaryen, in the fantasy epic.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Foy explained that there were elements – most likely, the violence and incest – that she wasn't overly fond of when it came to Daemon.

"I've watched all of [the show]," she told host Josh Horowitz. "It took a huge amount of commitment, which waned towards the end, but I was there for it. I was a very committed friend but I disagreed with [Matt's character] in many scenes. I then had to tell him that I found them disgusting to watch.

"But yeah, I thought it was great. And it's gone down really well, what a triumph."

Foy recently opened up about how The Crown propelled her to fame, something she wasn't expecting after having worked for 10 years and remained largely under the radar.

While it was quite a change for her, she was thankful for having Smith around to help her deal with it.

Foy said: "He already had it because he'd done Doctor Who and he said, 'What I think is really interesting about it is that everybody thinks you've changed, but you've [stayed] exactly the same. It's just everyone's opinion of you has changed, you know?'

"I think the thing is not to fight it. You can't control what other people think of you, ever, so you may as well just be in charge of your own life."

House of the Dragon airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK. Season 2 has been confirmed. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
