From scooping the Strictly trophy to giving us free rein to nose around people’s homes in This Is My House , Stacey Dooley has provided some absolute TV gems over the years. But just like Doctor Who, if he made reality shows, one of our favourite Stacey regenerations is her turn as a documentary film-maker. As chance would have it, she’s back with a brand new series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over , and you’re in for quite a watch. Here’s everything you need to know about S3, free-to-air on W this April… What can I expect from the new series? Just like S1 and 2, this three-part series will see Stacey shack up with a different host per episode, all of whom have an unfiltered story to tell. She’ll spend 72 hours with them as a house guest, immersing herself in their daily life and routine and getting down to what really makes them tick in classic Stacey style about what makes their situation so interesting. Who will feature in S3? Expect three very different, but equally fascinating, episodes. Kicking off the series, you’ll meet the person the tabloids dubbed ‘Britain’s most hated woman’, aka Carla Bellucci, who made headlines after apparently claiming she faked depression to get a nose job on the NHS. Stacey spends time with Carla and learns the truth behind the story, how Carla now runs a successful OnlyFans account, and the impact her career has had on her 16-year-old daughter. Next up, it’s 70-year-old professional dominatrix Sherry. ‘It’s 31 degrees out there, one of the hottest days of the year, and I’m en route to Swindon to go and sit in a dominatrix’s dungeon,’ Stacey deadpans, in one of the best documentary openers we’ve ever heard. Sherry, a former chef who lives in an unassuming cul-de-sac, explains how she’s found empowerment through her new career. And you’ll also meet her ‘lifestyle slave’, a man who has dedicated himself to serving Sherry’s alter ego, Sophia, and travels 100 miles to see her. Finally, the series closes with Stacey spending time with Jemma McGowan, a woman who discovered she had an incurable, rare and aggressive ovarian cancer 24 hours after the birth of her third child. Determined to extend her life, Jemma started researching and found a clinic in Mexico that could help her, however the treatment cost £90,000. After sharing her moving story on Instagram and starting a GoFundMe page, Jemma exceeded her target overnight. Do I need to have seen the previous series? Nope. The joy of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over is that each episode acts as a self-contained documentary about genuine people, no homework required. Having said that, you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to catch up on the previous series, which contain some fascinating episodes. One highlight is the International Women’s Day special, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over: Body Positive Warrior, in which Stacey spends time with social activist, campaigner and motivational speaker Harnaam Kaur to find out why she’s made it her life mission to challenge beauty standards and empower women. It’s a heartwarming watch. Catch up on S1 and S2 on UKTV Play Meanwhile the previous two series have shone a light on the likes of tradwives – women who have shunned career ambitions and modern ideas of independence in favour of becoming the archetypal traditional housewife – as well as married couple Thomas and Cathy, who share their home with Nicole – the third person in their polyamorous relationship. When’s it coming and where can I watch it?
