Strictly Come Dancing's Will Mellor explains why he would "never" do a reality show again

"This is it for me."

Strictly Come Dancing star Will Mellor has explained why he would "never" do a reality TV show again.

Speaking to The Sun, the Coronation Street actor said that he thinks "this is it" for him in terms of reality TV appearances.

Mellor, who is currently competing on Strictly alongside professional dance partner Nancy Xu, said that he's "glad" he chose the "biggest" reality television series and got to learn a new skill in the process.

"This is it for me. If you're going to do one, do the biggest one and I'm glad I've learnt a skill every week," explained Mellor.

"I couldn't sit on a show just waiting to be voted out, I'd rather at least learn a skill and put my hand to something and really get my teeth into it."

Referring to other reality shows, Mellor said he didn't want to be in a popularity contest and would rather be judged on skill.

"I'm enjoying every minute of it and I don't want to just be in a popularity competition. This will be it for me, I think."

Recently Mellor missed out on days of training after falling ill with the flu, the actor uploaded a video to his Instagram to update fans following an appearance on Strictly: It Takes Two.

Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas recently respond to accusations of favouritism towards some of the couples.

"I take my job seriously. I'm honoured and humbled to be able to be the head judge on Strictly Come Dancing," she told the Metro.

"I am honoured and humbled to have been in my own industry for 55 years and to be able to get out there and give the best critique of the couples along their way during the show and hoping that it will inspire them to be the best that they can be."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows also stream on BBC iPlayer.
