Former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi is set to take on directing duties for a new parenting comedy series with Sky Studios.
According to Deadline, Capaldi will step behind the camera for They F**k You Up, which is based off of Sarah Naish’s memoir But He Looks So Normal: A Bad-Tempered Parenting Guide for Adopters and Foster Parents. The series will follow a mother who adopts five children, with a pilot episode set to shoot next year.
Thomas Eccleshare (Witness Number Three) will be writing the episodes, he has previously worked with Capaldi on upcoming Apple TV+ series Criminal Record.

Speaking about the upcoming project, Eccleshare said the series was "funny, honest and caustic".
"She’s sort of like the best mother in the world and the worst mother in the world. She will leave her kids on the side of the motorway to make their own way home but also fully support them through their quite extreme difficulties," the writer said.
Meanwhile, Capaldi can currently be seen in The Devil’s Hour alongside Jessica Raine, with the Amazon Original series set to begin filming a second season in the new year.

Following the success of the first season, Prime Video have renewed the horror series for two more seasons with with Capaldi set to return as murderer Gideon Shepherd.
Revealing what fans can expect from the upcoming instalments Amazon said: "In series two, Gideon’s true intentions are finally revealed, as he attempts to involve Lucy [Raine] in his mission to stop an elusive force of evil. Simultaneously a sequel and a prequel to the first chapter, expect nothing but the unexpected…"
