Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa has shared more behind-the-scenes images from the show, including a sneak peek at the TARDIS.

The actor, who will assume the role of the Fifteenth Doctor next year, shared a post on his Instagram with a batch of photos, some of which were shared by the show’s official social media accounts yesterday.

One snap, however, (the fifth on the carousel of photos) showed a glimpse of the Time Lord’s iconic vehicle, with the caption for the post reading: “Yesterday. Was. EXHILARATING!

“I genuinely feel I have an adrenaline hangover. But boy oh BOYY what we have in store for you. P.s that video is just an excuse to show off the fit of my trousers, tell me you wouldn’t do the same,” he concluded.

Gatwa will make his debut as the Doctor next year, with Russell T Davies returning as showrunner after 12 years away.

The first story will follow on from ‘The Power of the Doctor’, which saw David Tennant return to the show to take over from Jodie Whittaker.

The actor, who previously played the Tenth Doctor between 2005 and 2010, recently discussed the shock plot developments, explaining the process behind his return.

“It was like being handed a very lovely present! It was joyous and great fun,” he recalled. “It was a happy joyous time fifteen years ago – and returning to that could have been awkward or felt difficult.

“I might not have been able to run as fast, but we had a lovely time. Russell T Davies was back running the show and it felt like I'd never been away. I don't know if we gave him the idea to take Doctor Who back but certainly we thought if he's doing it, we can't let these young people have all the fun,” he said.

Doctor Who returns in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on BritBox in the UK.
