Billie Piper has revealed the one condition she would return to the role of Rose Tyler in a potential Doctor Who spin-off.

The actress famously played the companion between 2005 and 2006, appearing a number of times since across the TV series and audio dramas.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Piper was asked a fan question on whether she would return for a potential spin-off show if Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies asked her, the actress admitted she would do it in a shot if it was made in London.

"If it was shot in London – sorry that’s a really loveless answer!" she replied. "There’s a running theme here, I don’t want to work much. It was like four episodes all shot in London, then yeah, I’d be like a rat-up-a-drainpipe for that."

Piper also weighed in on the casting of Ncuti Gatwa as the next Doctor, saying: "Great! It’s just going from strength to strength, I’m so here for it."

Back in October, it was confirmed that Piper would reprise her role as Rose Tyler for three-part Big Finish audio drama Rose Tyler - The Dimension Cannon: Other Worlds alongside fellow stars Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler) and Mark Benton (Clive Finch).

The series will see the character "continue her mission to find the one person who can stop the stars going out and save the multiverse".

"Each jump takes Rose to an Earth under threat – parallel worlds, which means other versions of friends and family too," the synopsis adds. "Time is running out, but Rose won’t stop until she finds the Doctor…".

While a TV return hasn't been confirmed, there has been speculation that some form of Rose Tyler will be part of the upcoming 60th anniversary special, with Yasmin Finney cast as a character called Rose.

Doctor Who returns in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on BritBox in the UK.
