Doctor Who reveals new look at David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor

Allons-y!

Doctor Who is going all-out for its 60th anniversary next year, with Russell T Davies returning as showrunner and bringing back David Tennant play The Doctor in the lead-up to Ncuti Gatwa taking over the role. There's even a new logo. With the legendary sci-fi series moving to Disney+ outside the UK, it looks like it might be bigger than ever.

The BBC has released a new image of Tennant as The Fourteenth Doctor in a familiar but slightly different outfit. The suit and jacket are a little smarter than his Tenth Doctor days, but he's only done one button up this time.

A small official bio was also posted on the official website, reading: "A tumultuous clash with the Master saw the Doctor being forcefully regenerated into her best enemy – and back again, with the help of Yaz and a few more of the Doctor’s friends. However, the Doctor was left mortally wounded by the experience; and after saying goodbye to Yaz, she regenerated peacefully and alone.

"But the new Doctor discovered his new face was in fact an old face – that of one of his former incarnations! What has caused him to revisit his old appearance? Is there more at work here than even the Doctor can understand? Only time (and space) will tell…"

It's not the only mystery surrounding the upcoming specials, Catherine Tate's Donna Noble is back and hanging out with The Doctor without her brain burning up like it was previously established, and there's a new character named Rose too.

Doctor Who returns in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on BritBox in the UK.
